Fishing a Remote Canyon and a New Entomology Course

Fishing a Remote Canyon and a New Entomology Course

Hello everyone,
Justin, Joe, and I had a really fun day of fishing a few weeks back. We hiked into a remote canyon to beat the August heat and find some willing trout in cold water. We also brought the cameras along and made it into a fun video for our YouTube channel. It was a pretty incredible day of fishing with a lot of brown trout and rainbow trout coming to the net. We even had some very good dry fly action. You'll want to watch to the end of the video when the bouncing caddis fishing was so good that I started laughing like a schoolboy. You can watch the video by clicking this link or the play button below.

After you've watched the video, please head on over to our fly shop at tacticalflyfisher.com. We've been adding a bunch of new products including the new Textreme Fly Mate chest pack lineup.

In other exciting news, many of you will know the renowned filmmaker Gilbert Rowley from his IF4 films and the Modern Nymphing Masterclass series that he filmed with Lance Egan and me. Most of you probably don't know that Gilbert and I met when we were fisheries biology students in college. Both of us have always had an interest in the biological aspects of the rivers we fish including entomology. Gilbert has taken that interest and made it into another amazing course on the biology of the bugs that matter to fish and therefore to us as fly anglers. The course takes you through the main insects that are important to trout, their life cycles, and how to identify many of the common hatches that we are likely to encounter on the water. You can purchase his Code Breaker Entomology course at this link or by clicking either of the images below.

I'm off to prepare for and fish the national championships for the next couple of weeks. I'll be back to filming for our YouTube video after that.

Happy Fishing,
Devin Olsen
